A musical tribute to filmmaker Baz Luhrmann’s work has landed a Las Vegas residency.
Bosses at Cirque du Soleil and theatre company For The Record have developed For The Record: BAZ, which features reworked sequences from the filmmaker’s movies Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby and William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet.
The show will hit the Mandalay Bay resort in Sin City as an extension of LIGHT nightclub, according to Billboard.com.
President of Cirque du Soleil Theatrical Scott Zeiger says, “When we discovered For The Record we instantly knew that their vision of turning popular cinema into immersive entertainment would be a perfect match for Las Vegas.
“We are excited about this unique partnership and thrilled to bring BAZ to LIGHT at Mandalay Bay in this uniquely staged residency.”
Rumer Willis and Evan Rachel Wood have participated in past For The Record productions, but it is not known if they will take part in the new show.
